1. Information we process

Whoolla does not require an account and has no sign-in. We do not collect your name, email, contacts, location, identifiers, or usage analytics.

The app stores a small amount of information on your device only:

— Your settings — the country you say you are from, the country whose words you are reading, whether you are male or female (some languages change a word by who is speaking), your chosen skin tone for the app’s illustrations, and your appearance preference.

— Your family — if you use My family, the names, countries, notes and skin tones you enter for each person.

— A lookup count — how many words you have looked all the way through, used only to decide when to show Apple’s rate-this-app prompt.

All of this lives in the app’s own storage on your iPhone. It is not transmitted to us or to anyone else, and we cannot see it.

2. How we use information

The settings and family you enter are used to show you the right words: your country decides your words, their country decides theirs, and the names you add appear on the app’s screens. Nothing is used for advertising, profiling, or sale. We do not sell personal information and we do not use it for third-party targeted advertising — we do not have it.

3. No network requests

Every kinship word, every note, and every spoken pronunciation ships inside the app. Looking up a word, hearing it, drawing the path between you and a relative, and building your family all work with no internet connection, and the app does not contact our servers or anyone else’s while you use it.

The app contains a disabled hook for refreshing the list of our other apps shown in Settings. It is switched off in the version on the App Store; if we ever switch it on, the request will carry no identifier and nothing about you, and this policy will say so.

4. Pronunciation

Spoken words are audio files bundled with the app. They were generated once, by us, using a text-to-speech service, from the same word list you see in the app; no text or audio from your device is involved. For a few languages the app has no bundled clip and instead uses the speech voices already on your iPhone, which run on the device. No audio leaves your phone in either case.

5. Service providers

Whoolla uses no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or cloud services. Apple provides the App Store, the rate-this-app prompt, and on-device speech voices under Apple’s own terms. The app logs a few events (such as a word being looked up) to your device’s system log for debugging; that log stays on the device and is not read by us.

6. Retention

Your settings and family stay on your device until you delete them in the app or delete the app. Deleting the app deletes everything Whoolla stored. We hold nothing, so there is nothing for us to retain.

7. Your choices and rights

You can change or remove any setting and any family member inside the app at any time, and delete the app to remove all of it. Because we hold no personal information, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export, or erase on request — but if you believe otherwise, write to hello@undisturbed.studio and we will look into it. Depending on where you live you may have further rights under applicable law; nothing here limits them.

8. Security

Information stays in the app’s sandboxed storage on your iPhone, protected by your device passcode and iOS’s own protections. No system is perfectly secure, but there is no server on our side to be breached.

9. Children

Whoolla is general-audience software about family words and is not directed at children under 13. It collects nothing from anyone, children included.

10. Changes to this policy

If the app’s behaviour changes — for instance, if the other-apps refresh is switched on — we will update this policy and the copy shown inside the app, and change the effective date. The version shown inside the app and on this page is always the current one.
